Verse of the Week

"the Son whom God loves...exists before everything, and in Him all holds together. He is the head of the body, His community. He is the beginning, the first born of the dead- so that He might come to have first place in all things." - Colossians 1:13, 16-18

Events & Announcements

Pastor Connie is headed to Peru!
On July 11 Pastor Connie and church family members, Ariana Pineda, will be traveling along with other women from HerMission (formerly the Women's Missionary Union of Virginia) to Peru to minister to the women and children in remote villages. We need YOU to be in prayer for Pastor Connie, Ariana, and their team for their safe travel and ministering to the women and children. To help you, Pastor Connie has created a prayer calendar for the week. From July 11-20 make sure to check the Melrose Baptist Facebook and Instagram for daily posts and the church blog on the church website. Paper copies of the prayer calendar are available at the church.
This Month's LAAF Gathering
The Living Abundantly After Fifty (LAAF) group invites those 50 and older to their monthly gathering on Tuesday, July 15 at 10 AM. This month the group is going to hear more about the "Food for Soldiers" program(s) and are going to put together 140 encouragement bags for local veterans. If you are planning to come, please bring donations of the following: individually packaged or snack packs of chocolate chip cookies, Skittles, or Starburst candy.
Save the Date: Disability Ministry Interest Meeting
We invite anyone who is interested to a conversation around the opportunities that are available to our church to help us compassionately and inclusively minister to families impacted by disabilities on Wednesday, July 23 at 6:15 PM in the Fellowship Hall. During the conversation we will hear from church staff and members about the opportunities, possibilities, and additional resources that are available for learning more about the topic.
Light refreshments will be provided.
Digital Lost and Found
Quite frequently we have items that turn up in the church office that people have misplaced or lost. Our office manager, Shelly, is going to start posting these items weekly on the Melrose Family Facebook group. If you are not already a member of the group, find it HERE and request to join.
