Peru Prayer Calendar- Day 4

Monday, July 14
The morning will be spent dividing into teams and packing up all materials needed for those who will lead our women in conference at Monte Sion this evening, and the others who will be working with their children doing “VBS” kinds of activities.  Ariana will be on the team working with the 50 children (dividing them into 2 groups).  I will be presenting my session to the women gathered and helping translate others’ sessions when needed.  

Our first of two women’s conferences begin this evening: first aid and health (led by our two nurses), self-supporting craft ideas, and our sessions: Call, Compassion, Care (First Aid), and Connection.

Pastor Connie will lead “Compassion: Loving your Neighbor and Yourself.”  Around 90% of the women in Monte Sion are single mother families with a man who is occasionally present, is abusive when present, or is not present at all.  I will be on a worship team with Crystal, who will preach, Jocelyn will play autoharp, I’ll have my ukulele and lead the singing.  Then, there are short 15 minute sessions (some will need me in translation) on The difference in physical stamina in the high altitude, the 42-degree nights and 72-degree long days, and (for me) the bilingual mental gymnastics may begin to cause fatigue in our school trips or doubt of my abilities in the women’s evening conferences over my translating abilities.
